| The Delicate Arch hike takes you
over semi-rough, but well-marked terrain for approximately 1.5 miles, one
way. The hike begins near the Wolfe cabin, built by a Civil war Vet who
sought the dry climate for health reasons precipitated by wounds from that
war. There's a small creek next, where he kept his cattle alive. Catch any
shade you need here early in the hike, because there's scant else on the
way. Just over the creek are some nice petroglyphs just a few yards off
the trail, indicating that the Native Americans enjoyed and endured this
harsh environment for a thousand years before any other settlers arrived. |
